    NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL, (little snoring) (EMERGENCY NOTICE)

    TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTION 2021

    Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 – Section 14(2)

    In accordance with the provisions of Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, the Norfolk County Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that owing to repairs to a water leak the use by vehicles of the C317 Great Snoring Road from a point 1000m north of its junction with U14006 The Hill heading north for 50m in the PARISH OF LITTLE SNORING will be temporarily prohibited from 26th February 2021 to 4th March 2021 for the duration of the works, expected to be about 7 days within the period. If necessary the restriction could run for a maximum period of 21 days.

    Alternative route is via: Great Snoring Road, The Street, Holt Road, Fakenham Road, Hindringham Road, North Lane, Walsingham Road, Thursford Road, Snoring Road, Norwich Road (Little Snoring/ Kettlestone/ Great Snoring/ Thursford/ Walsingham).

    (If necessary the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date of the Order)

    Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.

If necessary the restriction could run for a maximum period of 21 days.

    Alternative route is via: Holt Road, Fakenham Road, Melton Road, Dereham Road, Norwich Road, Langor Bridge, Pensthorpe Road, Clipbush Lane, Morrisons Roundabout, Fakenham Bypass (Ryburgh/ Stibbard/ Fakenham/ Guist/ Fulmodeston/ Little Snoring/ Kettlestone/ Briningham/ Thursford/ Wood Norton/ Hindolveston/ Melton Constable/ Swanton Novers).

    (If necessary the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date of the Order)

    Press release from North Norfolk District Council

    Postal Voting in 2021 Elections On Thursday 6 May 2021 elections will be taking place in North Norfolk with electors voting in the Norfolk County Council elections and the Norfolk Police and Crime Commissioner Election. There are also several Parish Council by-elections also scheduled to be held on this day. Given the ongoing situation with the Covid-19 pandemic we want to give electors as much time as possible to change voting arrangements if voting in a Polling Station during the pandemic is not desired.

    Local Returning Officer and Chief Executive Steve Blatch said: “Whilst we are making arrangements for the safe delivery of elections at Polling Stations within North Norfolk at the forthcoming elections we are aware that a higher number of our electorate may wish to conduct their vote by post on this occasion, given the ongoing Covid-19 situation. The North Norfolk district has the oldest average age demographic in the UK, so by nature we will be seeing a larger number of our residents having a higher level of vulnerability from the virus, so applying for a Postal Vote is an effective way for our local electors to still have their say on Thursday 6 May”.

    Please note that any application for a postal vote must be completed by hand using ‘wet ink’ and we are unable to accept any digitally signed applications. In order to apply for a postal vote, you must be a registered elector within North Norfolk  (see below for how to register to vote).

    Completed applications can either be returned by email to postalvotes@north-norfolk.gov.uk or posted to Electoral Services, North Norfolk District Council, Holt Road, Cromer, NR27 9EN.

    Given the anticipated high volume of applications for postal votes we advise you to make your applications as soon as possible.

  • Temporary Road Closure

    NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL has made a Temporary Traffic Order affecting the U14071 Thursford Road from a point 60 metres north east of its junction with the 14006 Kettlestone Road for a distance of 302 metres north eastwards in the PARISH OF LITTLE SNORING because of BT Openreach works to re-route aerial cable.

    The road will be temporarily closed (except for access) between 08:00 and 17:00 hours from 4th December 2020 to 8th December 2020 for the duration of the works, expected to be 5 days within the period.

    Alternative route is via: Thursford Road, Wallgate Lane, Balls Lane, The Street, Walsingham Road, Norwich Road, Great Snoring Road, The Hill (Little Snoring, Great Snoring, Thursford).

    (If necessary the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date of the Order).

    Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.

    In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance.

  • Fakenham Virtual Christmas Tree Festival

    The Fakenham Parish Church Christmas Tree Festival Team had lengthy debate back in April before deciding that we had to go virtual.  We now regard this as admirable foresight!  Our plans are very well advanced. and the daily videos for the website – fakenhamchristmastreefestival.co.uk – have been filmed and are being edited ready for release.

    Unfortunately, lockdown 2.0 will mean some changes, but much will be able to go ahead as planned. The website will operate as announced and both the Town Trail and the art competition can go ahead.  Entry forms for the Town Trail can be downloaded from the website or collected from Bailey, Bird & Warren in Bridge Street.  If neither of these is possible, the back of an envelope will be fine!  Completed entries can be emailed to fakenhamchristmastreefestival@gmail.com or delivered to the Rectory Office in Gladstone Road.

    Sadly, there will not be a live-streamed service on ‘Festival Sunday’, but there will be a pre-recorded service on the website.

    Fakenham will be ‘Christmas Tree Town’.  We are asking those businesses which offered to have a Christmas Tree themed display to do this whenever they can and individual households to use this second enforced ‘stay at home’ to create exciting and imaginative displays for their homes.

    Whatever its limitations, and whatever the obstacles, there will be a Fakenham Parish Church Christmas Tree Festival in 2020!
